Everyone loves a parade.

모든 사람은 퍼레이드를 좋아한다.

And one of the most popular parts of a parade is the marching band!

그리고 퍼레이드에서 가장 인기 있는 부분 중 하나는 행진 악단이다!

Marching bands combine music and motion, which makes them exciting to watch.

행진 악단은 음악과 동작을 결합하여 그것들을 보기에 흥겹게 만든다.

Most of a band's members play musical instruments as they march.

악단의 멤버 대부분은 행진하면서 악기를 연주한다.

Others throw sticks in the air or wave flags back and forth.

다른 멤버들은 공중에 막대기를 던지거나 깃발을 앞뒤로 흔든다.

Often, the entire band moves together in a coordinated pattern, like a dance group.

종종 악단 전체는 댄스 그룹처럼 통합된 패턴으로 함께 움직인다.

Interestingly, marching bands were not originally developed for entertainment.

흥미롭게도, 행진 악단은 원래 오락을 위해 개발되지 않았다.

They first began in the military.

At that time, soldiers didn't have modern communication devices.

So bands were used to help coordinate the movements of the soldiers during battles.

These bands were later replaced by radios, but the tradition continued.

Today marching bands can be seen in parades, at sporting events, and in amusement parks.

They vary in size from about 20 members to more than 100.

In fact, a high school marching band from Texas, USA, has more than 800 members!

They claim that their marching band is the largest in the world.
