Katherine and the Trees

캐서린과 나무

Katherine Sessions grew up in a forest in California.

캐서린 세션스는 캘리포니아의 숲에서 자랐어요.

She loved trees, flowers, and birds.

그녀는 나무, 꽃, 그리고 새들을 사랑했어요.

She liked to learn about trees.

그녀는 나무에 대해 배우는 것을 좋아했어요.

(선생님) Katherine, what will you do next year?

(선생님) 캐서린, 너는 내년에 뭐 할거니?

(Katherine) I’ll go to college.

(캐서린) 저는 대학에 갈 거예요.

I’ll study trees and flowers.

전 나무와 꽃을 공부할 거예요.

I can’t wait.

정말 기대돼요.

After college, she worked as a teacher in San Diego.

대학을 졸업한 후, 그녀는 샌디에이고에서 교사로 일했어요.

It was a dry city.

그곳은 건조한 도시였어요.

There were not many trees.

거기에는 나무가 많이 없었어요.

(Katherine) I’ll be a gardener in San Diego.

(캐서린) 나는 센디에이고에서 정원사가 될 거야.

(친구) What will you do?

(친구) 넌 무엇을 할 거야?

(Katherine) I’ll find trees for this place.

(캐서린) 나는 이 장소에 맞는 나무를 찾을 거야.

I’ll plant them all around the city.

그 나무들을 도시 곳곳에 심을 거야.

Katherine visited Mexico and brought the right trees for San Diego.

캐서린은 멕시코를 방문해서 샌디에이고에 맞는 나무를 가져왔어요.

She planted them in schools, parks, and gardens.

그녀는 학교, 공원, 그리고 정원에 그것들을 심었어요.

Now, San Diego is a green place.

이제 샌디에이고는 푸른 장소예요.
