My name is Lee Saem.

내 이름은 이샘이다.

My first name has an impressive meaning in Korean: “a source of power and vitality.”

내 이름은 한국어로 ‘힘과 생명력의 원천’이라는 인상적인 뜻을 가진다.

Since Saem sounds like Sam, I decided to make that my English name.

샘은 Sam과 비슷하게 들리기 때문에, 나는 그것을 내 영어 이름으로 하기로 결정했다.

Growing up, I thought Lee was a common last name only in Korea.
