Surprisingly, many scientists believe that we should save seeds, as they are essential for producing food.

For this reason, the Norwegian government built the world’s largest seed vault in 2008.

It is located in a mountain of the Arctic Circle and was named the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

Its primary purpose is to store seeds and protect them from regional or global crises that threaten the Earth’s plants.

In addition, the vault is protected from flooding, as it’s placed well above sea level.

The vault was opened for the first time in 2015 to help an agricultural research center in Syria.

Due to a civil war, scientists from the center had to move to a safer place.
